MeetInk

Why MeetInk is a one-time purchase

A license you pay for once, 12 months of updates, a 14-day trial and a free tier forever. Here is the reasoning behind each part.

Almost every meeting notetaker is a monthly subscription. MeetInk is not. You pay $29 once, and the app is yours. This post explains why, and exactly what you get.

Subscriptions pay for servers. We don't run any.

A cloud notetaker has real ongoing costs for every user: uploading audio, running transcription on its servers, storing recordings, running the AI that writes summaries. A subscription is a fair way to pay for that.

MeetInk does all of that on your Mac. Transcription runs locally. Notes are written by a local model through Ollama, or by Google Gemini, Claude or OpenAI using your own key. Gemini has a free tier, so notes can cost nothing at all. Your meetings are stored on your machine.

We don't pay for your recordings every month, so it would be strange to charge you every month for them.

What the license includes

  • The app, forever. The version you buy keeps working. It does not stop when a subscription lapses, because there is no subscription.
  • 12 months of updates. Every release in the 12 months after you buy is included — new features, fixes and support for new macOS versions.
  • After that, your choice. Keep using your version as long as you like, or buy again when a release is worth it to you.
  • Your Macs. A license is for one person on their own Macs.

The license key is checked on your Mac, offline. The app never needs to phone home to keep working.

Why 12 months of updates, not "lifetime"

"Lifetime updates" sounds generous, but it ties a product's future to buyers who paid once, long ago. That usually ends one of two ways: the product slows down, or the terms change later.

A clear window is more honest. You know what you are paying for, and we have a reason to keep shipping releases good enough that people want the next year.

Why there is a free tier

After the 14-day trial, MeetInk stays free for 5 new meetings a month, forever. Everything you recorded stays readable, searchable and exportable.

Three reasons:

  1. Trying it properly takes more than two weeks. Some people have a few important calls a month. They should be able to rely on the app before deciding.
  2. Your notes are yours. If you stop paying — or never start — you should never lose access to meetings you already recorded.
  3. It is cheap for us to offer. Free users cost us almost nothing, because everything runs on their Mac.

A license removes the monthly limit.

Why a full trial first

The trial includes every feature — meeting types, action items, Ask AI across meetings, Insights, integrations, the connector for Claude and Cursor. No account, no card. If it does not fit how you work, you will know before paying.

And if you buy and change your mind, there is a 14-day refund, no questions asked.

What we won't do

  • No account required. You can use MeetInk without signing up. Google sign-in is optional and only used for your license.
  • No tracking of what you say. The app sends only anonymous usage counts (you can turn them off) — never audio, transcripts or notes.
  • No surprise cloud upsell for the core app. Recording, transcription and notes will keep working on your Mac.

How it compares

With a subscription, the total cost keeps growing and your access depends on continuing to pay. With MeetInk, you pay once, keep the app, and decide later whether a new year of updates is worth it.

Pricing in one place

  • $29, one time.
  • 12 months of updates included.
  • 14-day full trial, then 5 meetings a month free, forever.
  • 14-day refund.
