MeetInk vs Jamie: two bot-free notetakers, one cloud and one local
Jamie and MeetInk both record from your device without a bot. Jamie processes meetings on EU servers; MeetInk transcribes on your Mac and keeps everything there.

Jamie is one of the earliest "no bot in the call" meeting notetakers, and it takes data protection seriously: it is a European company and hosts everything in the EU. MeetInk shares the no-bot idea but goes one step further on where your meetings live. Here is how they compare, and when Jamie is the better pick.
What Jamie and MeetInk agree on
- No bot. Neither app adds a participant to Zoom, Meet or Teams. Both record from your own computer.
- Works with any call app. Because they capture audio on your device, the meeting platform doesn't matter.
- Summaries, tasks and questions. Both write notes, pull out action items and let you ask questions across your meetings.
- Connects to AI tools. Both offer an MCP connection so AI assistants can read your meetings (on Jamie, on its Pro plan and above).
How Jamie works
Jamie has desktop apps for Mac and Windows, an iPhone app for in-person meetings, and a web app. It captures your device's audio, then — according to Jamie's own documentation — streams it encrypted to servers in Germany, where it is transcribed and the summary and tasks are generated. Jamie says the audio is permanently deleted after transcription and only the text transcript is kept, that data stays in the EU, and that it doesn't train models on your data. It is ISO 27001 certified.
Jamie supports 99+ languages, recognises speakers across meetings, and offers Ask Jamie to chat across your meetings. Higher plans add CRM and project-tool integrations (such as Salesforce, HubSpot and Asana), and a Team plan adds a shared workspace and admin controls.
How MeetInk works
MeetInk is a Mac app where the heavy lifting never leaves your machine.
- Transcribed on your Mac. Transcription and speaker separation run on the Mac's Neural Engine. Audio is never uploaded — not even briefly.
- Only the meeting. It records your microphone and the meeting app's audio — meeting apps and browsers, not music or videos elsewhere — with echo cancellation for speakers.
- Your library is on your Mac. Recordings, transcripts and notes are local files. No account is needed.
- You choose the AI. Google Gemini (recommended, free tier), Claude or OpenAI with your own key, sent directly from your Mac, and only the transcript text — or a local model through Ollama, fully offline. On Gemini's free tier Google may use prompts to improve its models; its paid tier doesn't. See security.
So the difference is not "bot vs no bot" — it is where the transcription happens and where the result is stored. Jamie's answer is EU servers. MeetInk's answer is your Mac.
Notes shaped by the meeting
MeetInk detects 16 meeting types and writes notes to match as the call goes: standups (done / doing / blockers per person), sprint planning, roadmap reviews, design reviews as decision records, incident reviews, client calls, sales discovery with a MEDDIC scorecard, sales demos, interviews, 1:1s, knowledge transfers, team updates, presentations, brainstorms and more.
Every line links to the moment it was said. You also get decisions, an action items list across every meeting (any item opens as a prefilled Linear issue), talk-time stats, a per-meeting Tone estimate, and "Write…" recipes for a follow-up email or a Slack update.
Asking questions and using your AI tools
Ask AI answers about one meeting (with cited moments you can play), a folder, or all your meetings, using search that runs on your Mac. A one-click, read-only local connector lets Claude Code, Claude Desktop and Cursor read your meetings — it reads files on your Mac rather than a cloud account.
Pricing
Jamie has a free plan with a limited number of meetings and a maximum meeting length, and monthly subscriptions (Plus, Pro, Team, Enterprise) that raise those limits — check Jamie's current pricing.
MeetInk is a one-time license: $29, with 12 months of updates, and the version you have keeps working after that. Every feature is free for 14 days, then it stays free for 5 meetings a month. See pricing.

Where Jamie is the better pick
- You speak more than English in meetings. Jamie supports 99+ languages; MeetInk is English only today.
- You use Windows or want an iPhone app. Jamie covers Mac, Windows, iPhone and the web. MeetInk is Mac only.
- Your team wants a shared workspace. Jamie's Team plan has shared templates and admin controls. MeetInk can post to Slack or a shared folder, but it is not a team workspace.
- You want zero setup. Jamie includes its AI. With MeetInk you pick a local model or paste an API key once (Gemini's has a free tier).
- EU hosting is the requirement, not "no hosting". If your policy asks for EU data residency and a certified vendor, Jamie is designed for that.
Where MeetInk is the better pick
If you would rather your meetings didn't reach any vendor's servers at all — EU or otherwise — MeetInk transcribes on your Mac, stores everything there, and needs no account. Add notes shaped for engineering, sales and client work, one-click Linear issues, a local connector for Claude Code, and a price you pay once.
Frequently asked questions
Is Jamie on-device?
Jamie records on your device without a bot, but its documentation says transcription and summaries happen on its servers in Germany, after which the audio is deleted. MeetInk transcribes on your Mac and never uploads audio.
Do I still need to tell people I'm taking notes?
Yes, with either app. No bot appears, so let people know, wherever the law or your company requires it — see recording consent.
Can I get my MeetInk notes into a CRM?
Yes. Send each finished meeting to Zapier, Make or n8n through a webhook and on to your CRM.

Fifteen ways to get AI meeting notes on a Mac — bots and no bots, cloud and on-device, subscriptions and one-time licenses — and who each one is best for.
MeetInk vs Apple's built-in call recording on Mac
Notes can record and transcribe, and macOS Tahoe can record Phone and FaceTime audio calls. Here is what that covers, what it doesn't, and when it is all you need.
MeetInk vs Google Meet "Take notes for me": local notes for every call
Gemini's "Take notes for me" writes a Google Doc for Meet calls in your Workspace. MeetInk records any call on your Mac and keeps the transcript and notes on your machine.
MeetInk vs Krisp: a local-first meeting notes alternative for Mac
Krisp started as noise cancellation and now takes bot-free AI meeting notes in its cloud. MeetInk also skips the bot, and keeps the transcript and notes on your Mac.
