MeetInk vs Microsoft Teams Copilot and intelligent recap
Teams intelligent recap and Copilot summarise Teams meetings in Microsoft 365. MeetInk records any call on your Mac, transcribes it on-device and keeps your notes local.

If your organisation runs on Microsoft 365, Teams can already summarise your meetings: intelligent recap after the call, and Copilot to ask questions during and after it. MeetInk takes a different approach — a Mac app that records the call on your machine, whichever app it happens in. Here is how they compare, and when Teams is the better pick.
How Teams intelligent recap and Copilot work
- They need a licence. Intelligent recap — AI-generated notes, follow-up tasks, timeline markers for key moments, speaker timelines and name mentions — comes with Teams Premium (an add-on) or a Microsoft Copilot licence. Standard Teams gets a basic recap with the recording, transcript and shared files, without the AI notes. Licences are assigned by your IT admin.
- The meeting has to be recorded or transcribed. Microsoft says intelligent recap needs the meeting to be recorded or transcribed in a supported language, and runs for meetings of five minutes or more. Copilot during the meeting can work from live speech without saving a transcript if the organiser chooses the "Only during the meeting" setting.
- The organiser is in control. The meeting organiser decides whether and how participants can use Copilot. Microsoft notes Copilot won't work in meetings hosted outside your own organisation.
- Recaps stay inside your organisation. People in your org who were invited can open the recap; outside invitees can't, even with the recording link.
- It lives in Microsoft 365. Recordings are stored in OneDrive and SharePoint under your organisation's Microsoft Purview policies, and admins can search and set retention. Microsoft states that prompts, responses and data accessed through Microsoft Graph aren't used to train foundation models.
- Languages. Microsoft lists more than twenty supported languages for recap.
How MeetInk works
MeetInk is a Mac app that works the same in every meeting.
- Any call app, no bot. It records your microphone and only the meeting app's audio — Teams, Zoom, Google Meet, Slack huddles, Webex, FaceTime or a call in your browser. Music and other tabs are left out, and echo cancellation lets you use speakers.
- No organiser, admin or licence needed. It works the same in a customer's Teams meeting as in your own, and you don't have to start a recording for everyone.
- Transcribed on your Mac. Speech recognition and speaker separation run on the Mac's Neural Engine. Audio is never uploaded.
- Your library stays on your Mac. No account is needed; Google sign-in is optional.
- You choose who writes the notes. Google Gemini (recommended, with a free tier), Anthropic Claude or OpenAI with your own key, sent directly from your Mac — transcript text only. Or a local model through Ollama for fully offline notes. On Gemini's free tier Google may use prompts to improve its models; on the paid tier it doesn't.
Because no bot joins and Teams shows no recording banner, please tell people you're taking notes — see recording consent.
Notes shaped by the kind of meeting
MeetInk detects 16 meeting types and writes notes to match: standups (done / doing / blockers per person), sprint planning, roadmap reviews, design reviews as decision records, incident reviews, client calls, sales discovery with a MEDDIC scorecard, sales demos, interviews, 1:1s, knowledge transfers, team updates and more.
Every line links to the moment it was said. Your own notes and bookmarks steer the summary, and each meeting gets talk-time stats and a Tone estimate, clearly labelled as AI.
Getting work out of meetings
- Action items with owners and due dates across every call, in one list. Any item opens as a prefilled Linear issue.
- Ask AI about one meeting (answers cite [mm:ss] moments you can play), a folder, or all your meetings. Search runs on your Mac, by meaning and keywords.
- Your AI tools can read your meetings with a one-click, read-only local connector for Claude Code, Claude Desktop and Cursor.
- "Write…" recipes for a follow-up email, a Slack update, a decision record or a status recap.
- Integrations you set up: Markdown to a folder (Google Drive, iCloud, Dropbox, Obsidian), a Slack webhook, Zapier, Make or n8n webhooks, and Gmail or Mail follow-ups.
Pricing
Intelligent recap needs Teams Premium or a Microsoft Copilot licence on top of Microsoft 365. Prices depend on your plan and agreement — check Microsoft's current pricing, or ask your IT admin whether you already have it.
MeetInk is a one-time licence: $29, with 12 months of updates. Try every feature free for 14 days; after that it stays free for 5 meetings a month. See pricing.

Where Teams Copilot is the better choice
- Your organisation already licenses it and meets in Teams. It's built in, with no extra app.
- Everyone invited should get the recap. Teams shares it with invitees in your org automatically; MeetInk notes are yours until you share them.
- You need compliance controls — retention, eDiscovery and sensitivity labels managed by IT.
- You want the AI to use your other Microsoft 365 content, such as emails, chats and documents.
- You work on Windows or a phone, or meet in languages other than English.
Why choose MeetInk instead
Choose MeetInk if you meet across Teams, Zoom, Meet and Slack, often join meetings hosted by other organisations, or don't have a Premium or Copilot licence. You get one library for every call, transcribed on your Mac, with notes built for engineering, sales and client work, and nothing stored with a vendor unless you choose to. The bottom line
Teams intelligent recap and Copilot are a strong choice for organisations that live in Microsoft 365 and want recaps under central IT control. MeetInk is for individuals who want notes from every meeting, on their own Mac, from the AI they choose, at a price paid once.
Frequently asked questions
Can I use MeetInk in a Teams meeting hosted by another company?
Yes. MeetInk records your Mac's audio, so it doesn't depend on the host's settings or licences. Please tell people you're taking notes — see recording consent.
Does it work with the Teams desktop app and Teams in the browser?
Yes, both. MeetInk records meeting apps and browsers, and can remind you to take notes when a call app starts using the microphone.
Does MeetInk upload my audio?
No. Recording and transcription happen on your Mac. If you choose Gemini, Claude or OpenAI to write notes, only the transcript text is sent, with your own key. See privacy.

MeetInk vs Apple's built-in call recording on Mac
Notes can record and transcribe, and macOS Tahoe can record Phone and FaceTime audio calls. Here is what that covers, what it doesn't, and when it is all you need.
MeetInk vs Google Meet "Take notes for me": local notes for every call
Gemini's "Take notes for me" writes a Google Doc for Meet calls in your Workspace. MeetInk records any call on your Mac and keeps the transcript and notes on your machine.
MeetInk vs Jamie: two bot-free notetakers, one cloud and one local
Jamie and MeetInk both record from your device without a bot. Jamie processes meetings on EU servers; MeetInk transcribes on your Mac and keeps everything there.
